Hariri: I am not a candidate for prime minister
Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced that he would not run for prime minister, requesting that his name be withdrawn from circulation, and said in a statement: “I had instructed myself not to take a political position before the issuance of the judgment of the Special Court in Lebanon regarding the assassination of the martyr Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and before completing contacts with friendly countries and society. The international community and the Lebanese political forces regarding the initiative that the friendly President Emmanuel Macron took during his recent visit to Lebanon.
He continued: "In fact, I see that the renewed international interest in our country, headed by President Macron's initiative and the visits by a number of international and Arab officials, represents an opportunity that may be the last and cannot be missed to rebuild our beloved capital Beirut, and to achieve a series of reforms demanded by the Lebanese and we are trying Its implementation for many years, and to break the economic and financial isolation that Lebanon suffers from, with external resources allowing to stop the terrifying collapse in a first stage and then gradually move to re-growth in a second stage. "Thank you for everyone who put forward my name as a candidate to form a government that will assume this noble and difficult national task at the same time. Together, however, I noticed, as all the other Lebanese, that some political forces are still in a state of severe denial of the reality of Lebanon and the Lebanese, and he sees this as just a new opportunity for blackmail on the basis that his only goal is to cling to weak authoritarian gains or even to realize supposed personal dreams in a later authority. Unfortunately, it is blackmail that goes beyond its political partners, to blackmail the country and the opportunity for renewed international attention and the livelihood and dignity of the Lebanese. Accordingly, and based on my firm conviction that the most important thing at this stage is to preserve the opportunity for Lebanon and the Lebanese to rebuild their capital and implement the well-known reforms that are long overdue, and open the way for friends in the international community to engage in helping to confront the crisis and then invest in the return of growth, I declare that I am He is not a candidate to head the new government, and I hope everyone will withdraw my name from deliberation in this regard. He believed that "the only entry is for the President of the Republic to respect the constitution and immediately call for binding parliamentary consultations pursuant to Article 53, and to completely abandon the heresy of authorship before the assignment."
He concluded: "Of course, I am with the Future Parliamentary Bloc, and in the parliamentary consultations that the constitution imposes without delay, and the Lebanese are waiting impatiently, we will name those we see competence and ability to form a government that guarantees the success of this one and last opportunity for our country, as we will bet it will be." This government is capable, in form and substance, to carry out this task, so that we may cooperate with it in the parliament to achieve the reconstruction of Beirut, implement the necessary reforms, and open the way for our friends in the international community to stand by Lebanon in the humanitarian, economic, financial and investment side.
